We are seeking passionate and experienced creatives to join our team

We are hiring for two roles, a Senior Design Engineer and a Senior Industrial Designer. You must have an eye for detail, a good understanding of how things are made and are fluent in 3D CAD modelling. Please read the full job descriptions below carefully before applying.

Start date: Spring
Deadline: end-March
Location: London office (must have right to work in the UK)

Senior Design Engineer
The role of Senior Design Engineer is a full time (37.5hr/w) position split between Morrama’s office in Hackney and working from home.
Day-to-day responsibilities

- Leading design projects
- Making key engineering decisions on projects with the support of the design team
- Presenting work to, and communicating directly with, clients and suppliers
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the design team

Requirements

- Be passionately involved in projects at every stage from research to completion
- Work closely and collaboratively with the rest of the team
- Respect others opinions and ideas, but have confidence in speaking out if you disagree, don’t understand or have any questions
- Be proactive with regards to managing your time and flag to management any periods where you feel you have too much or not enough to do, as early as possible
- Develope designs into 3D CAD with detailed consideration for manufacture and assembly whilst preserving beauty and user experience.
- Include and mentor Junior members of the team in project work and in furthering their own understanding of engineering and manufacturing
- Lead projects with the support of other senior team members, considering the needs of project stakeholders and manufacturers, and maintaining prompt and clear communications and good CAD management
- Champion sustainable design at Morrama; bringing sustainable evaluation and design strategies into your work on every project
- Actively further your own professional development

Our ideal person will have

- At least 6 years experience in the industry, ideally within a design agency or design team
- A background in developing complex electronic assemblies
- Complete competence in Solidworks including surface modelling and producing parts for injection moulding
- Experience leading projects, communicating with suppliers and working with junior team members
- Confidence in communicating, presenting and asking questions
- Experience working directly with factories, including in the Far East

- £40-45k per year starting salary depending on experience

Senior Industrial Designer
The role of Senior Design Engineer is a full time (37.5hr/w) position split between Morrama’s office in Hackney and working from home.

- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the design team

- Be thoughtful and considerate of the implication of each small detail on the overall beauty and user experience of your design work
- Champion sustainable design at Morrama; bringing sustainable evaluation and design strategies into your work on every project
- Actively further your own professional development

Our ideal person will have

- At least 6 years experience in the industry, ideally within a design agency or design team
- Complete competency in translating ideas into 3D CAD with particular experience in surface and solid CAD modelling (Solidworks/Rhino/Grasshopper) and rendering (Keyshot/Blender)
- Experience leading projects, communicating with suppliers and working with junior team members
- An understanding of the latest AI design tools
