Brief

To design a competitive at-home exercise bike

A focus on lifestyle was the key. With most exercise machines feeling out of place in the home, Apex was designed with reference to sculpture and interior design.

CASE STUDY

Market fit

Apex Rides are out to bring the convenience of the at-home workout to the market at a more accessible price than the competition. We’ve been working with the team since Summer 2019 to design and fine-tune the bike itself with the goal of bringing elegance and finesse to a traditionally hypermasculine aggressive product.

The bike

A home spin bike naturally spends more time on display than in-use. With the majority of users not having the luxury of a bespoke home-gym, we wanted to design an object that would fit into a living room or bedroom. With carved sculptural curves the result is sleek and unisex.

The experience

Each aspect of the bike from the fixing points to the saddle design has been considered. The wireless charging phone pad gives the bike a function even when it’s not in use. Every touch point has been custom designed to ensure a seamless experience but anything that isn’t vital can be removed if desired to given an even cleaner visual aesthetic.
