We are a small, energetic industrial design team based in the Tea Building as part of Ustwo Adventure’s family in Shoreditch, London. We’ve worked with over 100 startups and small businesses on projects ranging from smart tech innovations, to FMCG packaging, to furniture design. We’re an exciting, agile and growing team who believe in designing not just beautiful products, but unique and meaningful experiences that help define and strengthen a company's brand.
If you think this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of then read on because we’re looking for a new Lead Designer to join our team.
As Lead Designer you will be expected to drive the creative aspect of Morrama’s design projects. We’re not looking for an ego but we are looking for a passionate, multidisciplinary designer with the vision and the drive to translate a varied range of design briefs into awesome concepts. We will also expect you to instill a passion for design and encourage creative thinking in the other members of the team. They should have a constant drive to strive for perfection and the consideration of every facet of an idea, even when under pressure. At the same time, they will be expected to provide guidance and support to the other designers within the team, helping them to develop as both designers and individuals to benefit the Morrama team.
As well as being expected to promote creative practice and steering the creative output of the team, our new Lead Designer will also be expected to take an active and hands-on role to the practical side of design projects. They should have first-class and multifaceted design skills. We want a Creative-Suite wizard with good graphic sensibilities and someone who can design beautiful, exciting products and experiences with an understanding of every stage of the design process.
The role comes with a lot of responsibility but also a lot of rewards. You’ll have the opportunity to shape your own role and lead and push the team. We also want to hear your ideas and get your perspective on everything we do (even if you disagree).
Our ideal person will have:
At least 2 years experience in the design industry
A quality degree in Product Design/Industrial Design or similar
A mature but imaginative sense of design thinking
A sense of pride and confidence in your own design capabilities, but an understanding of how to design within a team.
Good communication; verbal, written and visual.
Good leadership and teamwork; an understanding of how to give and receive feedback
Confidence both in speaking/pitching (to clients) & in putting forward ideas
Good time management
High attention to detail
Great sketching, Adobe CS, graphic and presentation skills
Ideally starting in January 2018.
Full time position: 09.30-18.00 Monday to Friday.
~£30k salary dependent on experience
