The latest addition to the Morrama team

Lovely Ben

Lovely Ben

Hello there! My name is Ben and I’m a fresh-faced designer who travelled down from North of the wall to join Morrama in late August of this year. I studied Product Design at Edinburgh Napier University and met Jo and Mike while displaying my work at the New Designers exhibition in London.

My first few months at Morrama have been nothing short of vibrant. Already I have been able to work on a huge variety of projects with the team and more importantly, I have been given the freedom to creatively explore each design challenge put in front of me. The importance of detail and the value of storytelling within each project is what instantly struck me working at Morrama. The Product Design course at Edinburgh Napier has a real commitment to drive the students towards meaningful and considered design that has both an impact and a reason for being. Being able to continue this design process at Morrama has allowed me to thoroughly engage with every brief I have worked on and help the team deliver eloquent products, packaging and branding for our clients.

At Morrama, every day is an entertaining combination of imagination, innovation and invigoration. The people that surround me at Makerversity are who make this possible. Jo, Mike and Michael are a dedicated, talented and above all, passionate group of individuals who make the experience of working for Morrama a gratifying one. Together we all bring a love for design, an appreciation for manufacture and a limitless empathy for our exciting range of clients. This combination is what I believe makes Morrama a truly versatile design consultancy.

Since beginning at Morrama, my own skills have also been developing. Whether it is producing a plethora of sketches, visualising and sculpting a design in CAD, creating concept renders or piecing together a client presentation, I am constantly gaining experience and knowledge from the rest of the team on a daily basis. The process at Morrama also enables me to work to my skillset by putting pen to paper, using creative content and getting dirty in the workshop all while productively reviewing each discipline with Jo and Mike (it’s at this point I should add that Mike’s version of a Scottish accent is slowly improving with each attempt). As a result, this has allowed me to be able to continue producing work that I am proud of on a multitude of platforms.

The title of ‘Designer’ is also something that Jo and Mike have insisted I make my own. They have entrusted me with a lot of responsibility since starting at Morrama, whether it be making important design decisions on a project, travelling out to meet clients or even choosing which pints to have at the pub! Gladly my favourite way to learn is by being thrown in at the deep end and I am revelling in every new experience.

The future of Morrama is also very exciting. With a growing team and a constant stream of varied and interesting clients coming in, there is a great energy in the team and I feel very fortunate to be part of it. I look forward to the work, creativity and innovation that the future holds here, yet most notably, I look forward to helping Morrama reach its goals and designing its own future.
